Each week, I try to find and share a delicious and healthier recipe we made and liked (or want to make), a podcast/album/song I’m loving, non-toxic/clean-living finds because I know this kind of switch can be overwhelming, an article (or two) that made me think, and a poll question just for fun.
It’s funny how priorities change. When I was working as an educator, I always counted the days until the next break. It wasn’t so much that I didn’t enjoy the work, but more that I have always been a homebody, and I couldn’t wait to have my time be my own again. Now that I am not working outside of the home, I keep forgetting that this week is Spring Break where I live. This reality is a reminder to me that I am living in an answered prayer, and I never want to take that for granted.
However, there is one reason why I am extremely nervous for this week: I/we am/are going to potty train our son. *yikes* Why am I so nervous about this? Well, I think it is the fact that I know there will be a lot of messes to clean up and that it’s going to be a (maybe long) process. I just pray for the patience to handle the process with grace and humor and not get too overwhelmed. I know my son is ready; it’s me who is holding this process up. But this week is the perfect opportunity to give it a go (no pun intended) because all of our weekly activities are on break. I think I just need to take the bull by the horns and stop putting it off. Please pray for me (and my son) as we start this process!
Hopefully your spring break plans are more fun than mine :)
I’m sure you weren’t banking on a potty training hype-up reflection today, so without further ado, please enjoy this week’s Sunday Seven!
P.S. I am on silent retreat next weekend, so there will not be a Sunday Seven. I will be praying for you; please pray for me.
It’s possible that I’ve shared this podcast before, but it’s so good, it’s worth re-sharing. As someone who experiences primary infertility, this podcast made me feel so seen and validated. Even if infertility isn’t a struggle you personally deal with, this episode worth listening to in order to know how best to support your loved ones who are experiencing it.
I’m seriously considering moving to a pour-over method for our morning coffee, and this is the one I have my eye on. I’ve read that black plastic (like the lids and bodies of traditional coffee makers) is extremely toxic, and I’ve heard that pour-over coffee is so much better, because the beans don’t get scorched and are used more evenly.
Since our outdoor time has significantly increased as has my open window time, it’s time to return to one of my favorite seasonal playlists. I love the mix of easy listening and classics to enjoy while making a meal or spring cleaning the house.
Here are five more meatless meals to try this Lenten season. I’m looking forward to trying the sweet potato tacos and the crunchy Thai inspired quinoa bowl.
On March 19, we celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph, a high feast day (which means we can break our Lenten fasts to celebrate :)). This is an important day in our home because St. Joseph is our son’s patron saint. It is traditional to eat Italian food on his feast day, so we will most likely get food from our neighborhood Italian place. Here is a short article on other ways to foster devotion to this incredible saint and the foster-father of Jesus.
I came across these beautiful Easter egg tins, and can’t wait to include them in Joseph’s Easter basket in a few weeks. You can buy them individually or as a pack of 3.
Last week’s poll results: 60% of respondents rejoice and stay cozy inside when it rains, while 20% hunker down at their favorite coffee shop, and the other 20% go outside and splash in the puddles. I am with the 60% on this one, but may have to get used to being outside and splashing around if my son has any say in it. You can find this week’s poll question below:
That’s all, folks! Thanks for reading, and please let me know in the comments which of the items above was your favorite.
Again, your words are a pleasing delight, arriving just after my early morning Scripture time. Thank you for each of the 7, but especial for the podcast treasure. Be blessed. For such a week as this, we shall remember you all in prayer.
